Valeria and Adam's wedding party at Sandburn Hall, near York
Well that was tremendous fun! I was booked to entertain by Valeria and Adam at Sandburn Hall - I've lost track of how many times I've been there, either as a magician or a videographer (or both). I showed guests Nando and Hana how to do the 9 card trick and managed to persuade him to perform it at his table. I tried out a couple of new tricks namely APE and a new ESP test and they both worked really well. Its hard to shake off the old favourites though.
- Getting the spectator to divine the right queen when she's surrounded by her bodyguards
- Coin bending in the spectator's hand
- Borrowed ring to a nest of wallets
- A chosen spectator choses some random words and I deal some cards, spelling out the letters of her 4 choices.
- When the card chosen is found, at first she thinks she's chosen badly but with a lovely final twist she becomes a very special person.
- Lie detection with a coloured cube
- A book test
- Deadline where a spectator demonstrates their magical ability to restore a messed up pack of cards to normal (well very nearly).
For the children:
- A nut which rolls off a bolt using psychic powers
- My grandma's necklace which magically passes through a young girl's hand
- The pen that pierces through a £20 note and then is retracted and the hole repaired
- The app on my phone that finds a chosen card like a metal detector finds metal
- The tiny plunger that finds cards by whispering into it
I had a great time both performing, taking pictures and chatting to the guests and I just loved the choreography that went into the first dance. I have been performing magic or filming weddings for over 20 years now and I have never seen anything quite so graceful and gorgeous as this:
The original video I took is about twice this length and features guests joining Valeria and Adam in the dancing. As it features children dancing, I have password protected it. Valeria and Adam will have the password. Here is a link to the video: Full length video of the first dance
Hi Martin We just wanted to say a big thank you for being part of our wedding day! Your magic was such a hit — so many of our guests are still talking about your tricks and how amazed they were. We were away for a couple of weeks right after the wedding, so didn’t get a chance to message you sooner. We’ll absolutely be recommending you to anyone looking for something special for their event. Thanks again.
